David Finckel traveled to New
Albany, Ohio, during the weekend of October 18th for a performance
of Haydn's C Major cello concerto with the newly formed New
Albany Symphony Orchestra. The New Albany Symphony is a community
orchestra made up of professional musicians, community players,
and students. The all volunteer staff is headed by extraordinary
Executive Director, Heather Garner, with Musical Director, Luis
Biava.
On the day before the concert, David lead a master class featuring
several talented young musicians at Columbus' Graves Piano Hall.
The master class was presented by the New Albany Symphony in collaboration
with Chamber
Music Connection.

The surrounding community of New Albany is a vibrant one with beautiful
architecture.

The concerto performance took place in the newly built Shottenstein
Theatre in the Jeanne
B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, a world class concert
hall.
