On March 27th, the duo returned to Toronto for another performance
with the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
Presented by Music Toronto, the concert took place in the 497-seat
Jane Mallett Theatre in the St.
Lawrence Centre for the Arts and featured Prokoviev's Sonata
in C Major, op 119 and Shostakovich's Quintet for Piano and Strings.

Next, David and Wu Han travelled
back to the United States into Columbus, Ohio to prepare for their
world premiere perormances of Gabriela Frank's new original duo
concerto. As they arrived to their hotel, the Drury
Inn and Suites, Wu Han could not resist the urge to play the
piano in the lobby despite a posted message against it.

On the evenings of Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st,
David and Wu Han premiered Gabriela Frank's new work Compadrazgo
with the ProMusica
Chamber Orchestra at Columbus's historic Southern Theatre.

Opened in 1896, the Southern
Theatre is the oldest surviving theatre in central Ohio and
seats 933.

The rigorous week of rehearsals with the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra
under the direction of Timothy Russel began nearly as soon as
they arrived. Gabriela Frank's new work Compadrazgo was
commissioned by three Pro Musica supporters Loann Crane, Barbara
Fergus and Barbara Trueman. Pictured below are David Finckel,
composer Gabriela Frank, conductor Timothy Russel, commissioner
Barbara Trueman, and Wu Han.

Among the audience members who greeted David and Wu Han in the
lobby of the Southern Theatre following their performances was
the musical Hettinga family. Parents Jim and Pam have seven children:
Drew, Alex, Matthew, Elisabeth, James, Julia, and Lily. The five
older children attended the performance.

Following their perfomance, David, Wu Han, and daughter Lilian
were congratulated by many old friends including former Hartt
School of Music Dean and composer, Donald Harris.

Duo manager David
Rowe even made an Ohio appearence for the event.

Throughout the week, Grammy-winning recording engineer, Da-Hong
Seetoo worked to record Frank's new work.
